Contributing a PatchIf you have anything you would like to see done in some of the projects under the Stormwind banner, don't wait for committers to do it! Do it yourself! Then contribute it to the project, so other people might benefit from your effort. The process for contributing a patch is very easy:
The message here is: PARTICIPATE! Make a difference! Help the Stormwind Project Community evolve! Creating a Sub-ProjectThe best approach for submitting a new project to be included in Stormwind Project is to convince the committers that it's a great project (or at least a great idea), since every project will get voted by the PMC before being included in the Stormwind Project. In order for that to happen, the easiest path is the Community Developers Lists. Check out the mailing lists page for more information. Becoming a ContributorBecoming a contributor is really easy and very rewarding. Just extend some of the projects in Stormwind Project and show it to the community (forum, trac ticket, dev lists, you name it). If it's something that any committer finds value in, you'll be granted access to the Stormwind.Contrib SVN. Your contribution will also be granted a wiki here in the portal and the extension will participate in the build server. After that you just have to keep evolving your extension and make sure you produce value for yourself and for others. Becoming a CommitterBecoming a committer is harder, but not impossible at all. You'll probably trail the other three paths of contribution before becoming a committer (it's not necessary, though). As stated in the PMC Bylaws, a committer status will only be awarded to a member of the community upon voting of the PMC. So the easiest way to get yourself a committer status is impressing the community, or in other words, contributing. |
